Career Paths
Although there are many paths for building a career in construction, here are two:
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS
On this career path, you earn money while you get on-the-job training and classroom instruction. You become a skilled tradesperson (carpenter, laborer, welder, and so on).
There are specific apprenticeship programs for each trade. Click on these links for more information about the specific apprenticeship programs: Pile Buck, Cement Mason, Laborer, and Heavy Equipment Operator. Career advancement includes opportunities for project management (superintendent and project management positions). As opposed to the college path, the apprenticeship path is debt-free. |
COLLEGE
On this career path, you begin your career after you complete your degree. This path provides many options for careers in construction, but if you want to be a skilled tradesperson, the apprenticeship program is for you.
